ESSENCE Metal Glam Eyeshadows

A few weeks ago I found these babies in Target for the crazy price of $4.50 (AUD). I must admit I was hesitant at first but as soon as I swatched a few of the shades I knew I had to try them and give you guys a review!

Click 'read more' for the full review.

The Essence site describes these shadows as follows -

"metal meets glam! metallic and shimmering effects on your eyes are the ultimate trend! the especially soft texture with extremely high coverage and metallic results creates expressive eye make-up guaranteed to be eye-catching! the range of colors is huge and sure to make every beauty’s heart beat faster!"

Let's start off with the shades. I believe I purchased all the shades available but having said that, there is a good variety of colours in the range even if it is on the smaller side.

L-R Sparkle All night, Miss Tangerine, Golden Up!

L-R Chocolate Jewelry, Jewel Up The Ocean, Frosted Apple.

As you can see from the above images the glitter on top of the product is merely an over spray. Once you use the top layer of product, there is no more remaining glitter in any of the shadows and they become frosted shades.
  • Sparkle All Night - A charcoal grey.
  • Miss Tangerine - A golden coral.
  • Golden Up - A white gold.
  • Chocolate Jewelry - A warm, bronzed chocolate brown.
  • Jewel Up The Ocean - A blue teal.
  • Frosted Apple - A rosey golden pink.

The Run Down.

Packaging - Basic plastic, round packaging. Holds 2.7g of product.

Staying power - Not amazing but pretty good for the price you pay. To make these shadows last longer, apply them over a base and/or a primer.

Texture - These eyeshadows are quite different in texture to most things I've used. They almost feel like they could be a cream to powder formula as they're so soft. Some of the shadows (Frosted Apple, Golden Up!) are thicker than others and tend to become quite clumpy and require more work to blend.

Application - Some shadows are easier than others to apply. Lots of fall out with some and minimum with others. The creamiest and softest of all of these is 'Chocolate Jewelry'.

Would I buy these again? Probably, but only Chocolate Jewelery and Sparkle All Night. Simply for the amount of wear, the creaminess and the ease of application both of these shades have.

If you're looking for a cheap neutral or stand out pop of colour these are perfect!
